Real Home Care Scenarios in Tustin

Mr. Getzlaff and Stacy the Caregiver
Mr. Getzlaff, former CEO of a fishing business he started when he was in his early thirties, is retired and living in one of Tustin’s humble neighborhoods. At 65, he’s experienced the loss of friends and most devastatingly, the loss of his lifelong mate. His children, Amy, 46, and Tom, 38, live in Oregon and San Francisco, respectively. After getting together for Mr. Getzlaff’s 64th birthday celebration, Amy pulled Tom aside to talk about their father. She noticed a disheveled household and a distant personality. His Arthritis seemed to be getting worse as well. After researching home care agencies, the adult children took their father aside a few days later and expressed their concern. “No matter what I do, I can’t seem to distract myself from memories of your mother. A part of me left with her.”

The family agreed to have a companion who had extensive experience with Arthritis Care from A-1 Home Care provide hourly care a few days a week to accompany Mr. Getzlaff at home and around the city. Stacy, the caregiver, has been providing in-home care for Elderly individuals for 15 years, and 10 of those years with A-1 Home Care. She provides status updates at the end of each day to Amy.

Mrs. Shin and Nurse Aide Anabelle
Ms. Shin, a former small business owner in Tustin, is a 59 year old Elderly individual who used to run operations in a local restaurant. Never married, Mrs. Shin lives alone, with her nearest relatives in San Diego. Joshua, her cousin, always had a great relationship with Ms. Shin and would visit once every couple of weeks. Ms. Shin has Parkinson’s Disease. When Ms. Shin was first diagnosed, she contacted Joshua to ask him what she should do. The next day, Joshua came to visit her at her home in Tustin and with great concern, researched local home care agencies on the Internet. He did not want his cousin to be robbed of her independence at a nursing home or assisted living facility, nor did he want her to suffer a fall because of rigid muscles or balance problems.

Joshua came across A-1 Home Care, spoke with Case Manager Robert, and met with three Parkinson’s Caregivers from the agency for an interview. He chose a nurse aide, Anabelle to provide compassionate care for Ms. Shin. Anabelle assists Ms. Shin on a 24 hour live-in basis with personal care tasks and daily range of motion exercise to help make mobility easier. Anabelle provides daily status updates to Joshua at the end of each day.
